Stories from Mother’s Day Weekend & Busted
I’m packing multiple posts into one. So get ready. And you only get iPhone/Instagram photos. So yeah.

After Steven worked 3 all nighters, 61 hours, and commuted ~10 hours last week, he became very sick on Friday night. Saturday we went to his co-worker’s daughter’s birthday party. Paisley and Riley had fun, but Steven was still really sick. I made chicken noodle soup from scratch for the first time ever, and I actually ate some. [I had never eaten chicken noodle soup before.] Sunday, Steven let me sleep in even though he was still super sick. He and Paisley made me cards, which was very sweet. But the rest of the day, we let daddy rest in bed. I made dinosaur chicken nuggets, peas, and leftover wheat rolls for dinner. Some special dinner right?
While we were eating dinner, in between skype sessions with Steven’s family and mine, I was telling Paisley what she needed to eat before she could be excused. ”You need to eat the rest of your dinosaur chicken, your roll, and half of your peas.” Then I got up to take something to the fridge. As I turned my back to the table, Paisley says, “Yes…your majesty.” I whipped around to look at her, and she said “Oh! uh, sorry.” It was funny. For the most part. She’s been watching a lot of Alice in Wonderland lately, and she kind of said it the way Alice does to the Red Queen.
Monday morning, Paisley came in to tell us that someone [*cough cough* Riley *cough*] had spilt chocolate goldfish crackers in the family room and now there were ants everywhere! Steven got up to go start killing and cleaning them up, and I got up to go to the bathroom and set my phone on the dresser. Riley had carried off my case the day before, so I bet you can already guess where this is going. Just as I went to flush, Paisley ran in and told me, “Um, your phone is a little bit broken.”
“What do you mean?”
“Um, it was just up on the dresser, and then it fell off and now it’s broken.”
“What?! Can you bring it to me?”
She did. And sure enough, the screen was shattered. Luckily, Steven was staying home [to rest still, but that didn't happen] and so we were able to go to the Apple Store and replace it. Thank goodness for that insurance stuff. Especially when this is the third iPhone I’ve had to replace in 7 or 8 months.
While we were there, Riley was walking around [he wasn't impressed with the iPad games] and some guy smacked into him, sending Riley flying to the ground and he face planted onto the cement floor that Apple always has. He busted his lip, was bleeding everywhere, and crying hysterically and the guy didn’t even say sorry. I would’ve chewed him out had I not been more concerned about the blood dripping down Riley’s chin. Luckily, Steven had just finished up with the Apple Genius guy and we were able to clean Riley up a little bit. We got some lunch, and Riley didn’t eat much, because he kept feeling his swollen lip with his tongue. [Whenever I tried to take his picture with Steven's phone, he'd get really grumpy and shake his head "no." So this is the best one I got.]
So yesterday was not our day. In fact, this weekend really wasn’t either, except for the wonderful party we went to. That rainbow cake was so fun. [And Paisley liked the be-anya. {pinata}.]
